Newgate Farm's Deep Field (Northern Meteor) purple patch continued on Saturday, with his daughter Fituese (3 f ex Cattalo by Tiger Hill) running out a ready winner of the Denise's Joy Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Rosehill.

After settling midfield and one off the fence, Fituese was given clear running from the top of the straight and highlighted her promise as she raced a length and a quarter clear of runner-up Aquitaine (Exceed And Excel) with Sally's Day (More Than Ready) another half-length away third.

"There was more pressure than we were expecting but credit to Rachel [King], she didn't panic," John Thompson said.

"She just let the horse travel, gave her plenty of room in the straight and she did the rest.

"I was worried today. There were some pretty good fillies in this race. I've got a healthy respect for the second horse and to win like that, she's a filly going places.

"We'll see how she comes through this. There's a couple of races in Queensland that she could possibly head up for."

She was purchased as weanling for $40,000 by Bob Dawson at the 2017 Magic Millions Perth Winter Mixed Sale, with her dam Cattalo (Tiger Hill) selling to Tania and Rodney Cosgrave for just $7,000 at the same sale. Fituese was subsequently purchased by Prime Thoroughbreds for $55,000 at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale the following year.

The filly's dam Cattalo is herself out of Mammoth (Marscay) - a daughter of prolific Group 1 winner Mannerism (Amyntor) - therefore making her a half-sister to Group 2 winner Dandify (Danehill) and Group 3 scorer Manner Hill (Danehill).

Cattalo has since produced a filly by Trade Fair (Zafonic) and two fillies by Lynward Park Stud-based stallion Mahuta (Flying Spur).

Deep Field will stand at Newgate Farm in 2020 for a career high fee of $55,000 (inc GST), while this year he will be joined on the New South Wales' farm roster by his Group 2-winning son Cosmic Force - who will be offered to breeders at a fee of $16,500 (inc GST).
