Blaze A Trail wins at Hawkesbury on Sunday

The Go Bloodstock Australia-owned colt Blaze A Trail (2 c ex Flaming by Bachelor Duke) provided his sire Criterion (Sebring) with his first winner when taking out the Bottler Prov & Ctry Mdn Hcp (1300m) at Hawkesbury. 

Trained by Matthew Vella, Blaze A Trail defeated Sammy (Medaglia d'Oro) by a length with Invictus Felix (Poet's Voice) a close third. 

Blaze A Trail is the first winner out of the Group 3 placed mare Flaming (Bachelor Duke). His second dam is the LIsted winner Flying Firebird (Stravinsky) who produced six winners including Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed Smoulder (Traditionally). Bought by Go Bloodstock for NZ$90,000 at the 2016 NZB National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale, Flaming has a yearling colt, named Rutilant, who is by Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado) and a weanling filly by Merchant Navy (Fastnet Rock). 

A multiple Group 1 winner for Go Bloodstock, Criterion retired to Newgate Farm and covered a book of 70 mares during his first season at stud but produced just 14 live foals. He produced just five live foals from two more seasons at stud in 2017 and 2018.
