The Leon and Troy Corstens-trained Zacouver (2 f ex Fair Isle by Fastnet Rock) stayed on well to break her maiden at the third time of asking in the Mrs King 2YO Handicap (1200m) at Sandown-Lakeside on Wednesday and in the process became the ninth Australian-bred winner for the Coolmore Stud-based first season sire Vancouver (Medaglia d’Oro).

The two-year-old filly beat Zesty Belle (Denman) by a neck with another three-quarters of a length back to Sensationalisation (Written Tycoon) in third.

"The race worked out perfectly as there was good pace early that allowed her to settle and drop her head. Then she got the split at the right time and sprinted away good," said stable representative Dom Sutton.

A NZ$50,000 Karaka Book 1 purchase for Malua Racing / Flemington Bloodstock from the Curraghmore draft, Zacouver was bred by Coolmore in partnership with Pencarrow Stud.

The filly is out of Fastnet Rock (Danehill) winning mare Fair Isle, who is herself a daughter of Listed winner and VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) runner-up Miss Scarletti (Stravinsky).

Miss Scarletti herself if out of Group 2 winner Crimson (Zabeel), who also produced Group 2 winner Abidewithme (Redoute's Choice) and Listed-placed mare A Fairy's Kiss (Stravinsky) - the dam of prolific stakes winner Destiny's Kiss (Power Of Destiny).

In 2018 Fair Isle produced a filly by late Cambridge Stud stallion Tavistock (Montjeu), before foaling a colt by the same sire the following season and she has most recently been covered by Coolmore's Triple Crown-winning son of Scat Daddy (Johannesburg) Justify.

The son of Medaglia d’Oro’s (El Prado) first crop includes South African Grade 2 winner Mount Pleasant and now eight in Australia. He has also sired one winner in America and the stallion will stand the 2020 season at Coolmore Stud for $30,250 (inc GST), having stood the 2019 term for $44,000 (inc GST).
