Widden Stud-based stallion Zoustar (Northern Meteor) sired his 13th stakes winner courtesy of Solar Star's (4 m ex Petty Cury by Not A Single Doubt) victory in the Gai Waterhouse Classic Handicap (Listed, 1350m) at Ipswich on Saturday - a valuable pedigree update for when the mare is offered at the upcoming Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

The Tony Gollan-trained four-year-old led all the way, eventually coming away with a three-quarter length victory over Jami Lady (Spirit Of Boom), while Multaja (Medaglia d'Oro) finished another quarter length away in third.

"John Baxter bought her at last year's sales and gave her to me to trainer for a year," Gollan said.

"She has now won three from three at Ipswich and is a black-type winner.

"It means she really is a nice broodmare prospect and now she is going back to the sales.

"The win puts the icing on what has been a great season for everyone at the stable."

In 2017 BBA Ireland and Freedman Brothers bought Solar Star for $190,000 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale and she was snapped up by Damon Gabbedy's Belmont Bloodstock for $105,000 at last year's Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

The mare is out of Group 3 winner Petty Cury (Not A Single Doubt), who is herself out of fellow Group 3 winner Bahira (Volksraad), making her a half-sister to dual Listed winner Rio Fortune (Captain Rio).

Further afield this is the family as Group 1 winner Conifer Bay (Virginia Privateer) - the dam of Listed scorer Cong'er (Zenno Rob Roy).

The mare is catalogued as Lot 76 and as part of the Milburn Creek draft.

In 2017 Petty Cury produced a filly by So You Think (High Chaparral) and in 2019 she foaled a filly by American Pharaoh (Pioneerof The Nile), but missed to I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) in 2020.
