I Am Invincible gelding scores on third start.
Cumberbatch (2 g ex Pearl Star by Star Witness) - whose half-brother by American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) is set to be offered at the upcoming Magic Millions National Yearling Sale - provided the page with a welcome update as he shedded his maiden tag at the third time of asking in the Sportsbet Podcast Maiden Plate (1200m) at Pakenham on Sunday.
Trainer Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, the gelding finished strongly to defeat The Duke Of Hazard (Redoute's Choice) by three-quarters of a lengths, while Hesontherun (Wanted) finished another three and three quarter lengths away in third.
The colt was purchased by his trainer for $250,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and he is out of Listed-winning Star Witness (Starcraft) mare Pearl Star, who was herself purchased by Bowcock Bloodstock for $380,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when carrying the gelding in utero.
The gelding's fourth dam is Listed scorer Reign Of Honour (Military Plume), who is herself the dam of Group 1 winner Spectatorial (Spectrum).
Pearl Star's colt by American Pharoah was passed in at this year's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when failing to make his $100,000 reserve and he is catalogued as Lot 1291 as part of the KBL Thoroughbreds draft at the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale. In 2019 she produced a colt by Widden Stud-based sire Zoustar (Northern Meteor) in 2019.
I Am Invincible is currently sitting third behind Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) and Pierro (Lonhro) in Australia's general sires table by earnings and is set to stand the 2020 season at Yarraman Park for a reduced fee of $209,000 (inc GST), having stood the previous season for $247,500 (inc GST).
