The Archie Alexander-trained Dewhurst (2 c ex Majestic Faith by Denman) made the perfect start to his career when breaking his maiden at the first time of asking in the Superior Food Services Maiden Plate (1200m) at Pakenham on Tuesday and in the process became winner number three for Darley's first-season sire Kermadec (Teofilo).

The two-year-old colt beat Journey Of Song (Sebring) by a neck with another length and a half back to Not Available (Turffontein) in third.

Purchased by his trainer and Bennett Racing for $125,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Rheinwood Pastoral draft, Dewhurst is out of two time-winning Denman (Lonhro) mare Majestic Faith, who was herself purchased by Ferguson Bloodstock and Rheinwood Pastoral for $85,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale when carrying the colt in utero.

Majestic Faith herself is a three-quarter sister to Listed winner Black Mix who in turn produced Aurie's Star Handicap (Gr 3, 1200m) winner and Group 1-placed So Si Bon (So You Think).

Black Minx and Majestic Faith are themselves out of Emancipation Stakes (Gr 2, 1500m) winner Faith Hill (Danehill) who is the daughter of Group 3 scorer Simply Believe (Kenmare) - the grandam of dual Group 2 winner Global Exchange (Dundeel).

Majestic Faith's 2018 filly by Dissident (Sebring) was passed in when she failed to make her $100,000 reserve at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this year, while her filly foal by Coolmore Stud's young stallion Merchant Navy (Fastnet Rock) is set to go under the hammer at the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale which gets underway in Queensland on July 30. The filly has been catalogued as Lot 860.

Majestic Faith has most recently been covered by Newgate Farm-based stallion Deep Field (Northern Meteor).

Dewhurst joins Montefilia and Seduction has the stallion's other winners and he will stand at Darley's Kelvinside base for a fee of $13,750 (inc GST) in 2020.
