The well-bred Global Queen (2 f ex Snitzel - Subsequent by Encosta De Lago) chalked up her first victory at the second time of asking as she took out the Poplar Petfood & Produce Maiden Handicap (1300m) at Kembla Grange on Thursday.

Last seen running fourth on debut at Canterbury on June 24, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly pulled clear in the final stages to beat Prince Aurelius (Love Conquers All) by a length and three quarters with another nose back to Taumalolo (All Too Hard) in third.

Purchased by GPI Trust No.2, Andrew Williams Bloodstock and Makybe for $500,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the Highgrove Stud draft, the filly is the second winner out of the winning Encosta De Lago (Fairy King) mare Subsequent, making her a sister to Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner and Mapperley Stud resident Summer Passage.

Subsequent herself is a sister to Listed winner Order Of The Sun, while she also counts Listed-winning duo Beauty (Smart Missile) and Get To Work (Snippets) among her half-siblings.

Further back, the filly's third dam produced dual Group 2 winners Shania Dane (Danehill) and Listed-winning pair Scintillation (Danehill) and Risk Aversion (Encosta De Lago), while is also the family of multiple stakes winner Northwest Passage (So You Think) and Man From Uncle (Uncle Mo), who won the Hobartville Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m).

In 2019 Subsequent produced a sister to Global Queen and has most recently been covered by Yarraman Park-based sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit).

The Arrowfield Stud-based Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) stallion is on the cusp of winning his fourth consecutive champion sires title in Australia by earnings, with prize-money of $17,439,327, which is over $1.5 million ahead of Pierro (Lonhro), who is sitting second.
