The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Anders (3 c ex Madame Andree by War Emblem) picked up where he left off last season when landing the Rosebud Handicap (Listed, 1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday and in the process became stakes winner number 73 for Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice).

Having shed his maiden tag at Wyong in May at the fifth time of asking, before duly following up that victory with a win at Rosehill on his final start as a juvenile, the Aquis Farm-raced colt was having his first start in stakes company on Saturday.

Having led for most of the contest, the colt showed an explosive turn of foot to pull away from his rivals to post an emphatic four and three-quarter length victory over Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon), while The Face (Rubick) was another length and three-quarters further back in third.

Maher and Eustace's assistant trainer Annabel Neasham, who was attending her second last race meeting in the role, before branching out on her own, said the colt had always shown plenty of promise at home.

"We always knew he had an awful lot of ability but he was just doing a few things wrong," Neasham said.

"In those early stages he was head-to-head with Gerald's horse (The Face) and I think the old Anders would have fired up a bit."

Neasham also said she wouldn't be surprised to see Anders take up Aquis Farm's slot for the lucrative Everest (1200m) this season.

"He is a proper colt. They are going to have an awful lot of fun with him," Neasham said.

"Aquis have a slot in the Everest, so you never know. He is very fast.

"He is probably too brilliant for a Golden Rose but you never know. There is always a Coolmore as well, but I think they will aim high with him."

But in the more immediate future, Neasham said the colt would now likely tackle the San Domenico Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) at Rosehill on August 29.

Purchased by his trainer and Aquis Farm for $670,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Arrowfield Stud draft, the colt is out of unraced War Emblem (Our Emblem) mare Madame Andree, making him a three-quarters brother to stakes-placed Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) colt Battleground.

The colt's third dam is Appealing Story (Valid Appeal) - the dam of Grade 1 winner Exciting Story (Diablo) and Listed-winning trio Strong Memory (End Sweep), Sweeping Story (End Sweep) and Diablo's Story (Diablo) - who in turn produced fellow Listed winner Open Story (Open Forum).

Further back this is the family of Listed scorers Red Claudia (Agnes Tachyon) and Colourful Days (Fuji Kiseki).
The colt's Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) half-brother was purchased by George Moore for $360,000 at this year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Arrowfield Stud draft, while she has a weanling filly by Snitzel and was covered last October by Pariah (Redoute's Choice).

Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice) was pensioned last year and enjoyed a lucrative 2019/20 season, headlined by his son Farnan - who provided the stallion with his first winner of the Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m).
