The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Rule Of Law (3 c Snitzel - Helena's Secret by Five Star Day) brought up his first win at the second time of asking when he landed the Yarraman Park Maiden Handicap (1200m) at Newcastle on Saturday.

Last seen finishing third on debut at Canterbury in July, the three-year-old colt beat Exoboom (Exosphere) by a length, while Sidearm (Smart Missile) finished the same distance away in third.

The colt was purchased by owners China Horse Club, Newgate Bloodstock and WinStar for $450,000 at the 2019 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the Highgrove Stud draft and he is out of the winning mare Helena's Secret (Five Star Day), who was purchased by Highgrove for US$200,000 at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in 2011.

Rule Of Law is a brother to Australia Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) winner and now Sun Stud-based stallion Thronum and a further three winners.

Helena's Secret herself is out of winning mare Mount Helena (Danzig), making her a  half-sister to Listed winner Tears I Cry (Chester House).

The colt's third dam is 1985 Irish Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f) winner Helen Street (Troy), who proved herself to be a top-class broodmare, producing dual Group 1 winner Street Cry (Machiavellian) and Listed winner Historian (Pennekamp).

Historian herself produced Group 3-placed Antiquities (Kaldounevees), who in turn produced dual Group 1-winning colt Victor Ludorum (Shamardal) and Listed winner and Group 1-placed Mary Tudor (New Approach).

Helen Street is also the grandam of multiple Group 1 winner and top-class stallion Shamardal (Giant's Causeway) and Group 2 winner Geoffry Chaucer (Montjeu). Further back this is the same family as Group 1 winner and now Darley shuttler Territories (Invincible Spirit).

Rule Of Law's brother was purchased by Aquis Farm for $300,000 at Round 2 of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale earlier in the year, while she has a yearling filly by Yarraman Park-based sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) and she was covered by the same sire last season.
