The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Jet Propulsion (3 c Rubick - November Flight by Flying Spur) shed his maiden tag at the second time of asking when he landed the Coastline Pools & Spas Maiden Plate (1300m) at Newcastle on Thursday.

The three-year-old son of Coolmore Stud's Rubick (Encosta De Lago) stayed on well to beat Centimental (Snitzel) by a length with another quarter of a length back to Reaching (Deep Impact) in third.

Purchased by Maher and Coolmore's Tom Magnier for $900,000 at the 2019 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the colt is the sixth winner out of Millie Fox Stakes (Gr 3 1300m) winner November Flight (Flying Spur), making him a half-brother to All Aged Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) winner and now Aquis Farm stallion Pierata (Pierro) and Group 3 scorer Ashokan (More Than Ready).

Further afield, this is the same family as Listed-winning duo Crozier (Godswalk) and Fully Funded (Fully Fledged).

In 2019 November Flight produced a filly by Pierro (Lonhro) and was covered again last season by the Coolmore Stud-based sire.

Rubick will stand alongside his Everest (1200m)-winning son Yes Yes Yes at Coolmore Stud in 2020 and his fee is advertised as $33,000 (inc GST)
