Group 1 winner Atlantic Jewel (Fastnet Rock) has died after foaling a colt by US Triple Crown winner Justify (Scat Daddy). She was 12.

Trained by Mark Kavanagh, Atlantic Jewel won ten of her 11 career starts including the 2011 Thousand Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) and the All Aged Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) the following year. In August 2013 the daughter of Fastnet Rock (Danehill) added the Memsie Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) to her resume and at her final start in October 2013 she won the Caulfield Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m).

Bought for $320,000 by Demi O'Bryne from the draft of Vinery Stud at the 2010 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Atlantic Jewel is out of the dual winner Regard (Zabeel) who also produced fellow Thousand Guineas winner Commanding Jewel (Commands). Regard is out of Nanshan (Nashwan) who produced nine winners including stakes placed Shaan (Danewin) and the dam of Galaxy Handicap (Gr 1, 1100m) winner I Am Excited (Snitzel) and her Group winning half-sister Flippant (Hinchinbrook).

Atlantic Jewel's first foal was Empireofthedragon (Galileo) and his brother, Pacific Ocean, won over a mile in Ireland. In 2017 Atlantic Jewel produced Russian Emperor (Galileo) who has won twice at Group 3 level this year. She has a filly by Galileo, foaled in 2019 and a colt by the same sire born the following year.
