Mare suffered an allergic reaction to penicillin

Dual Group 1-winning filly Delicacy (Al Maher) has died after suffering from an allergic reaction to penicillin.

Bred and owned by prolific WA owner / breeder Bob Peters, the daughter of Al Maher (Danehill) retired the winner of 12 of her 19 starts, which saw her accrue $2,151,120 in career prize-money.

Delicacy enjoyed an extraordinary career on the track, including a stunning run of six straight victories in 2015 which culminated with victories in the Schweppes Oaks (Gr 1, 2000m) and South Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2500m) seven days later, following up her victories in the Western Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) and Western Australian Derby (Gr 2, 2400m).

Delicacy’s first two foals are both by Pierro (Lonhro), a two year-old filly called Very Likely and a yearling colt called More Likely, while she was back in foal to the top-class Coolmore stallion when she died.

The mare was a daughter of dual winning Scenic (Sadler’s Wells) mare Simply Wicked and was therefore a half-sister Listed-placed Universal Law (Beneteau).

Simply Wicked herself is a daughter of Listed winner Street Talk (Marauding), who is also the grandam of Listed scorer Profit Street (Viscount).
