The Kris Lees-trained Midland (3 c Brazen Beau - Pouter by Dubawi) - who was purchased by Bruce Perry paid Murrella Stud a sale-topping $550,000 at the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale - shed his maiden status at the third time of asking when he won over 1000 metres at Taree on Sunday.

The three-year-old colt finished second on both starts as a juvenile and finally managed to get his head in front when beating Enamour (Charm Spirit) by three and a half lengths, with another quarter of a length back to Austeja (Poet's Voice) in third.

Midland is out of dual winning Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) mare Pouter, who was purchased by Murella Stud for $57,000 at the 2017 William Inglis Sydney Weanling and Broodmare Sale by Murrulla Stud carrying the colt in utero.

Pouter is also the dam of Strutt Stakes (Listed, 2100m) winner River Dove (Epaulette) and a further three winners.

Pouter herself is a half-sister to Port Adelaide Guineas (Listed, 1800m) winner Excelltastic (Exceed And Excel).

Meanwhile, her third dam Fitnah (Fit To Flight) produced Grade 1 winner Dreams Gallore (Silver Ghost) and Grade 3-winning pair Absent Friend (Runaway Groom) and Fateful Dream (Distant View).

In 2019 Pouter produced a filly by Aquis Farm resident Spieth (Thorn Park) and she was exported to New Zealand last year.

Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible) is the sire of nine stakes winners and he will stand at Darley's Northwood Park base in Victoria for a fee of $49, 500 (inc GST).
