Two-time Group 1 winner Loving Gaby (I Am Invincible) has been retired after the discovery of heat and inflammation in her near foreleg.

The daughter of I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) retires the winner of four of her 13 starts, headlined by victories in the 2019 Manikato Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) and this year's William Reid Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m), which saw her accrue $2,281,250 in career prize-money. Her other two victories came in the Chairman's Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) and Scarborough Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m).

Trained throughout her career by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, the four-year-old was purchased by her owners Phoenix Thoroughbreds for $500,000 at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the Kia Ora Stud draft.

Loving Gaby is out of the Group 2-placed Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer) mare Maastricht, who was herself purchased by Coolmore and James Bester for $2,250,000 at the 2019 Inglis Chairman's Sale when carrying a sister to Loving Gaby before being covered by Triple Crown-winning shuttler Justify (Scat Daddy).

Maastricht herself is out of Listed-placed mare Cat Shmea (Felix The Cat), who is herself the dam of The Goodwood (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Velocitea (Volksraad) and Listed winner Weaponry (Declaration Of War), further back this is the same family of Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) winner Orange County (Volksraad).

Maher and Eustace issued a statement on Tuesday confirming the mare had presented with heat in a leg, forcing them to abandon spring carnival plans and make the tough decision to call time on her career.

"It is with great disappointment, we announce Loving Gaby is set to miss the spring carnival," the statement read. "She has heat inflammation to a near fore limb that has forced us to end her preparation prematurely.

"The decision has been made to retire her. It is deeply disappointing for her owners Phoenix Thoroughbreds, the team at home and her fans.

"She gave us all great memories and we look forward to seeing her progeny on the track."
