The Chris Waller-trained Centimental (3 f ex Serena Miss by Iffraaj) shed her maiden status with a victory over 1300 metres at Newcastle on Tuesday.

The daughter of Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) ran six times as a two-year-old and was unlucky not to salute the judge, finishing second on three occasions including behind Away Game (Snitzel) in the Widden Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m).

The three-year-old filly also posted another second place finish on her first start as a three-year-old, but she finally got her head in front on Tuesday when beating Silent Tryst (Sebring) by a length and a half, while Salateen (I Am Invincible) was another nose behind in third.

Bred and raced by an ownership group that includes Torryburn Stud, Centimental is out of the dual New Zealand Group 2-winning filly Serena Miss (Iffraaj), who was purchased by Damon Gabbedy's Belmont Bloodstock for $700,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Further back this is the same family as Listed winner Presently (Unbridled's Song), while South African Grade 2 winner New Predator (New Approach) also features on the pedigree.

In 2018 Serena Miss produced a colt by Snitzel - now named Centas - while she produced a colt by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) the following season was covered again by the Yarraman Park-based sire last September.
