The Danny O'Brien-trained Embolism (3 c Shamus Award - Peggie's Choice by Ihtiram) made the perfect start to his career when running out a ready winner of the Vale Subzero Maiden Plate (1300m) at Bendigo on Wednesday.

The three-year-old colt beat Pal D'Oro (Medaglia d'Oro) by three-quarters of a length with another half a length back to Captain Spud (Toronado).

"There's races at the back end of spring such as the Carbine Club Stakes, the Sandown Guineas and the Vase which he'll be aimed at," said O'Brien.

"I've always had a nice opinion of him. We did a bit with him as a two-year-old but he didn't race. This campaign he's had one trial and he's got good improvement to come."

The son of Shamus Award (Snitzel) is the only winner of the winning mare Peggie's Choice (Ihtiram), who is herself a sister to multiple Group 1-winning champion mare Miss Andretti and Listed winner Peggie's Dream (Ihtiram)

Peggie's Choice is also a half-sister to Group 3 winner Danny Beau (Zedrich).

In 2018 Peggie's Choice produced a filly by Shamus Award - now named Multi Award - and the following season she foaled a filly by the Rosemont Stud-based sire.

Shamus Award is standing at Rosemont Stud in Victoria for a fee of $19,800 (inc GST).
