Daughter of Medaglia d’Oro makes winning comeback.

The James Cummings-trained Asiago (4 m Medaglia d'Oro - Disputes by Manton) made a winning comeback in the Mona Lisa Stakes (Listed, 1350m) at Wyong on Friday. 

A dual Group 3 winner as a three-year-old, the four-year-old mare was making her seasonal debut having not been seen since finishing ninth in the Australasian Oaks (Gr 1, 2000m) in May and she beat Wandabaa (Wandjina) by a length. Missybeel (Savabeel) finished another half a length back in third. 

"She had a nice prep last time and we gave her a nice break after a trip to Adelaide," Godolphin representative Nacim Dilmi said.

"She's in for a nice spring."

Bred and raced by Godolphin, the daughter of Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado) is out of Listed-winning Manton (Danehill), who is herself a half-sister to Group 3 winner Divorces (Domesday) and Group 3-placed Dissolution (Snitzel). 

Further afield the mare is from the same family as Group 2 winner Royal Accord (Imperial Prince) - the dam of Listed-winning pair Good Tradition (Canny Lad) and Mermaid's Flannel (Woodman). 

Asiago is one of 141 stakes winners for Darley-based stallion Medaglia d'Oro, who resides at Jonabell Farm base in Kentucky.
