The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Selfless (3 f Redoute's Choice - Angel Of Mercy, by Hussonet) made the perfect start to her career when landing the Sportsbet Maiden Plate (1300m) at Wangaratta.

The three-year-old filly - who holds an entry for the Thousand Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) - beat Miette Star (Smart Missile) by half a length, while Night Hussler (Reliable Man) finished another length and three-quarters back in third.

Selfless was purchased by Seamus Mills Bloodstock for $320,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Arrowfield Stud draft and is the second winner from Group 2 winning Angel of Mercy (Hussonet).

Further back this is the same family as prolific Group 1 winner Divine Madonna (Hurricane Sky) and Group 3 winner Blessum (Umatilla).

Angel Of Mercy’s 2018 colt by Redoute’s Choice’s (Danehill) son Snitzel was purchased by Bennett Racing, Anthony Freedman Racing and Blue Sky Bloodstock for $320,000 at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and she was covered last year by a son of the late breed-shaping sire in The Autumn Sun.

As a broodmare sire Redoute’s Choice has sired 105 stakes winners to date headed by 17 Group 1 winners including Sacred Falls, Zoustar and Super Seth as well as top class fillies Pasadena Girl, Stay With Me and Amphitrite. He finished last season as the leading broodmare sire in Australia by earnings with his progeny having won almost $27.5 million.
