The well-bred Pensato (3 f Lonhro - Miss Right Note by Daylami) - who is a sister to champion racehorse and now top-class stallion Pierro - chalked up the first win of her career in the Oaks Trial (1800m) at Flemington on Wednesday.

Trained by James Cummings, the filly found herself in front with 300 metres left to travel and proved too hard to catch, posting a length and a quarter victory over Salto Angel (Sacred Falls). Star Of Eden (Wandjina) finished another neck away in third.

"That was a nice way to break her maiden here at headquarters," stable representative Sean Keogh said.

"We always knew she had a turn of foot and she is a nice style of filly. Obviously, she is impeccably bred but whether she had the lungs to stay was a bit of a question mark coming here today, so she has ticked off that box.

"James will decide where she goes next, but she will be well suited at ten furlongs."

Out of two-time winner Miss Right Note (Daylami), who not only produced the aforementioned Pierro, but also the 2015 Wakeful Stakes (Gr 2, 2000m) winner Ambience (Street Cry) and a further two winners.

Miss Right Note herself is half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Laverlock (Octagonal).

The filly's third dam is Listed winner Criquette (Shirley Heights) who in turn produced 2009 Ribblesdale Stakes (Gr 2, 1m2f) winner Flying Cloud (Storming Home) and Listed scorer Captain Webb (Storming Home).

Meanwhile, Criquette is also the grandam of Listed winners Lady Meydan (American Post), Agathonia (Street Cry), Siwa Lady (Gonski) and Oasis Girl (Redoute's Choice) and Knight's Tour (Reset), who landed the 2011 edition of the Great Northern Guineas (Gr 2, 1600m).

Miss Right Note's two-year-old is named Backstreets (Street Boss), while in 2019 she foaled a colt by Impending (Lonhro).

Lonhro (Octagonal) - who has been the shining light for the Darley Australia roster for many years - stands at Kelvinside for a fee of $66,000 (inc GST).
