The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained High Emocean (4 m ex High Joy by High Chaparral) proved a cut above her rivals in the RM Ansett Classic (Listed, 2415m) at Mornington and in the process handed Waikato Stud-based sire Ocean Park (Thorn Park) with his tenth stakes winner.

Last seen finishing third at Moonee Valley on August 22, the mare bounced back to winning ways when beating Tavirun (Tavistock) by four and a half lengths, while Eureka Street (Street Cry) finished another quarter of a length back in third.

Purchased by John Foote Bloodstock and Darren Weir Racing for NZ$80,000 at Book 1 of the 2018 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale from the Wentwood Grange draft, the mare is out of unraced High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells) mare High Joy, making her a half-sister to Listed winner Elate (Savabeel).

High Joy herself is a daughter of four time-winning Endless Joy (Centaine), who also finished second in the Thorndon Mile (Gr 1, 1600m) and she also produced Listed winner Emperor Bonaparte (Montjeu), while she is also the grandam of Listed winner Slimline (Castledale).

Further back this is the same family as multiple Group 1-winning champion Bonecrusher (Pag-Asa), Listed scorer Counterfeit (Pag-Asa) and Group 3 winner Fragile Asset (Zabeel), who in turn produced Group 2 scorer Hidden Asset (High Chaparral).

Ocean Park’s progeny is headed by Group 1-winning Tofane and Kolding and he stands at Waikato Stud for a fee of NZ$20,000 (plus GST).
