Of the four juveniles conducted at Eagle Farm on Tuesday, there was arguably no winner as an impressive Shaluna - who is by Arrowfield Stud’s first-season shuttler Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) - after the filly won her 800 metre heat by a comprehensive five lengths.

Having the second barrier start of her career, the Robert Heathcote-trained two-year-old filly was quick out of the barriers and sent to the lead by Ben Thompson, before cruising to the line beating Entanglement (Bel Esprit) in a slick time of 46.01 seconds - the fastest time of the morning trials.

Bred by Gleeson Thoroughbreds - who also bred Rothfire (Rothesay) - the filly was passed in at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale after failing to make her $80,000 reserve and she is out of winning Hussonet (Mr. Prospector) mare Stormy Hussey, who Gleeson Thoroughbreds purchased for $50,000 at the Inglis Broodmare & Weanling Sale 2018 arrying Shaluna in utero.

Stormy Hussey is the dam of two winners and is herself out of Grade 2 winner Stormy Hill (Danehill), making her a half-sister to Listed winner Bridal Hill (Unbridled's Song).

Stormy Hill herself is a daughter of three-time Group 1 winner November Hill (Estaminet) - the grandam of Group 2 scorer Stormhill (Danehill).

Shalaa has made a promising start with his first European crop, siring 13 winners, headed by three stakes performers and he is currently standing at Arrowfield for a fee of $33,000 (inc GST).

Another Gleeson Thoroughbred sold two-year-old impressed at Tuesday’s trials, as the Chris Anderson-trained Le Rubis (Rubick) also produced a dominant performance to take her heat.

The two-year-old filly flew out of the barriers and was keen to get on with things around the turn, eventually moving away from the pack to come away with a five length win over Berdini’s Girl (Odyssey Moon).

The filly was purchased by her trainer, David Giesemann and Stephen Morley Bloodstock for $50,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Gleeson Thoroughbred draft.

Le Rubis is out of the winning Exceed And Excel (Danehill) mare Exceed Expectation, who the Queensland-based operation purchased for $28,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale with the filly in utero.

Exceed Expectation herself is out of Audimco (Marscay), making her a half-sister to the dam of Listed winner Russian Conquest (St. Petersburg).

Further back this is the same family as 1994 The Galaxy (Gr 1, 1100m) winner Jetball (Marscay), Marwina (Marscay), who landed the Stan Fox Stakes (Gr 2, 1500m) in the same year and fellow Group 2 winner Into The Night (Rhythm).
