The John Sargent-trained Emeralds (4 m ex Doulmera by Mr. Greeley) added valuable black-type to her record when she clinched victory from the jaws of defeat in the Angst Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) at Randwick on Saturday and in the process became the 62nd stakes winner for the late Widden Stud-based sire Sebring (More Than Ready).

The pace was set by the Mark Newnham-trained Greysful Glamour (Stratum) and with 200 metres left to travel she looked to have the Group 3 at her mercy, but as she began to empty Emeralds was just getting going, storming up the rail to chin Greysful Glamour on the line, eventually beating her by a nose. Nimalee (So You Think) was another length and half away in third.

The mare is the sole winner out of the unraced mare Doulmera (Mr. Greeley), who is herself a daughter of Group 3 scorer Daltaya (Anabaa), making her a half-sister to Group 1 winner Dalkala (Giant's Causeway).

The mare's fourth dam is top-producing Listed-winning mare Daltawa (Miswaki) and she is the dam of multiple Group 1-winning champions and successful sires Daylami (Doyoun) and Dalakhani (Darshaan), while she also produced Group 3 winner Dalghar (Anabaa) and Listed scorer Daymarti (Caerleon).

Daltawa is also the grandam of Group 1 winner Dolniya (Azamour) and Group 3 scorer Dalwari (More Than Ready).

Sebring's progeny is headed by six Group 1 winners, including multiple Group 1 winners Dissident and Criterion and he died last year.
