Former Darley Stud shuttler Medaglia d’Oro (El Prado) was handed his 142nd stakes winner as his son Endanger (3 g ex Hazard by Flying Spur) took out the Gothic Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Last seen running third over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley, the gelding took the step into stakes company in his stride when beating Osamu (Exceed And Excel) by half a length. So Let's Toast (So You Think) was a further length away in third.

Trained by James Cummings, the three-year-old gelding is the only winner out of 2015 Dane Ripper Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m) winner Hazard (Flying Spur).

Hazard herself is out of the unraced Fantastic Light (Rahy) mare Dawn Attack, making her a sister to Group 3 winner Java (Medaglia d’Oro), while she is also a half-sister to fellow Group 3-winning duo Crucial (Nadeem) and Antelucan (Domesday).

Dawn Attack herself is out of Sabbah (Nureyev) - the dam of multiple Group 1 winner and successful sire Desert King (Danehill) and Group 3 winner Cairdeas (Darshaan).

Medaglia d’Oro shuttled to Australia for eight seasons, but did not return in 2019 and he now stands exclusively at Darley’s Jonabell Farm in Kentucky where his fee in 2020 was advertised as US$200,000.
