Yarraman Park’s star stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) sired his 59th stakes winner when the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained La Mexicana (3 f ex Cailin Miss by Domesday) prevailed in a close finish to win the William Crockett Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at Moonee Valley.

The filly came into the race off the back of a victory at Cranbourne and she took the step into stakes company in her stride when beating Twain's Express (Helmet) by a nose, while the pair pulled two and a half lengths clear of Highly Discreet (Street Boss), who finished third.

Freedman’s stable rep Brad Taylor was very pleased with the filly’s performance and was quick to heap praise on in-form rider Jamie Kah whose win on the filly completed a four-timer at Moonee Valley for the young jockey.

"It was a good performance,” said Taylor. “Jamie gets on with this filly really well. She's been a handful to manage at home but Jamie has done a great job with her at the jumpouts at home at Mornington to get her loaded into the barriers and gets on with her really well. It was a nice, brave performance today.

"It's great to get a win for Ricky (Surace) and now she's got black type on her page and she'll be a good asset to his broodmare band."

Purchased by Damon Gabbedy’s Belmont Bloodstock for $320,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft, the filly is one of two winners out of 2014 Oaklands Plate (Listed, 1400m) Cailin Miss (Domesday).

Further back this is the same family as dual Group 1 winner Brewery Boy (Lorenzaccio) and his fellow elite-level-winning half-brother Lygon Arms (Bletchingly).

Owned by Makybe Racing & Breeding, Cailin Miss foaled a colt by Vinery Stud-based All Too Hard (Casino Prince) in 2018, while she produced a filly by Newgate Farm’s exciting stallion Russian Revolution (Snitzel) in 2019.

I Am Invincible is standing alongside his Group 1-winning son Hellbent at Yarraman Park in the Hunter Valley for a fee of $209,000 (inc GST).
