Having finished second on her last start at Caulfield, Yes Baby Yes (3 f ex Exabelle by Exceed And Excel) finally got her head in front and added some valuable black-type to her record when she landed the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (Gr 2, 1600m) on Saturday and in the process handed Newgate Farm-based sire Dissident (Sebring) with his second stakes winner.

The Leon and Troy Corstens-trained three-year-old filly showed a good turn of foot to put daylight between herself and her rivals in a matter of strides, eventually pulling clear to beat Ecumenical (Zebedee) by a three and three-quarters of a length, while Miss Inbetween (Fighting Sun) was another two lengths further adrift in third.

"Very satisfying,” said Troy. “She's as tough as nails. You wouldn't believe it but she's been up since January, this girl. Raced as a two-year-old, right into her three-year-old year. Nine runs for this prep.

"She goes back to the farm during the week and she's just thriving. The guys there have done a great job and it's tying in so well. It's a really satisfying win.

"She goes (to the farm) on a Monday morning and she'll go out in the paddock for three or four days - she still works while she's up there. Just keeps them happy. Some like going to the beach, some like going to the paddock and she likes going to the paddock.

"I just love her. She's so tough. Things haven't always gone her way but she puts herself out in front and she held on today."

Purchased by Flemington Bloodstock and Malua Racing for $120,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of her breeder Sledmere Stud, the filly is one of three winners and first stakes winner out of dual-winning Exceed And Excel (Danehill) mare Exabelle.

The filly’s third dam is Group 3 winner Eye Full (Palatable) - the dam of New Zealand Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Gaze (Cape Cross), who in turn produced South African Grade 3 winner Ready To Attack (More Than Ready).

Exabelle’s two-year-old filly by Shooting To Win (Northern Meteor) is called No Baby No and is unraced, while last year she produced a filly by Aquis Farm-based Spieth (Thorn Park) and she was covered again by Dissident last October.

Yes Baby Yes joins Pancho as Dissident’s other stakes winner and he stands at Newgate Farm for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST).
