Former Arrowfield shuttler Mikki Isle (Deep Impact) sired his first Australian-bred winner on Sunday when his daughter Oriental Princess (2 f ex Anadan by Anabaa) scored over 1000 metres at the Sunshine Coast.

Under jockey Michael Cahill, the Gillian Heinrich-trained filly scored a one and three quarter length victory over favourite Oblique (I Am Invincible) with Whistling Loren (Vancouver) a close third.

A $150,000 purchase by Winners Bloodstock from the Arrowfield Stud draft at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, the filly was the second highest priced lot by her sire to sell in Australia this year. She is out of the winning Anabaa (Danzig) mare Anadan who was bought by Paul Messara for $575,000 at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Anadan has produced six winners now from as many foals to race including the Widden Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) runner up Adamina (Snitzel). The filly’s second dam meanwhile is Group 1 winner Demerger (Saithor).

Mikki Isle has produced five winners to date in Japan headed by Group 2 winner Meikei Yell and is currently sitting seventh in the leading first season sires table in Japan with that table headed by Maurice (Screen Hero) who has produced 20 winners so far in his first Japanese-bred crop. He shuttled to Arrowfield Stud for three seasons between 2017 and 2019 when he covered 249 mares.
