Having landed a barrier trial over 900 metres earlier in the month, the Chris Waller-trained Head Of State (American Pharoah) landed his second jump-out when he took out a 740 metre trial at Warwick Farm on Tuesday.

The Coolmore-owned and Chris Waller-trained two-year-old was more alert out of the barriers than in his last trial victory on October 16 and was sent straight to the front of affairs by Nash Rawiller. As the field entered the final stages Head Of State was unchallenged and glided to a length and a half victory over Conexy (Nicconi) in a time of 45.20 seconds.

Bred by Brad Crismale, the colt was bought by Coolmore's Tom Magnier for $850,000 from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft at Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this year.

Head Of State is out of the unraced Danehill Dancer (Danehill) mare Derelique, making him a half-brother to 2017 Hobartville Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m) winner Man From Uncle (Uncle Mo).

Further back, the colt's third dam is Subterfuge (Machiavellian), who in turn produced dual Group 2 winner Shania Dane (Danehill) and Listed-winning pair Scintillation (Danehill) and Risk Aversion (Encosta De Lago) and she is also the grandam of Listed winners Northwest Passage (So You Think), Order Of The Sun (Encosta De Lago), Beauty (Smart Missile) and Get To Work (Snippets). The colt also hails from the same family as Group 1 winner Summer Passage (Snitzel).

Meanwhile on the Gold Coast, American Ruby - a daughter of Coolmore's Triple Crown winner - landed her jump-out, winning a 1000 metre trial in a time of 1.02.67 seconds.

The filly was away quickly from the gates and placed in third by Ben Thompson in the early part of the trial. She was three-wide on the bend and after being coaxed along in the straight, came away with a smooth length and three-quarter victory over The Love Of Mary - who is herself by Grandview Stud's first-season sire Under The Louvre (Excellent Art).

Purchased by owners Orbis Bloodstock for $140,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Newhaven Park Stud draft earlier this year, American Ruby is out of winning Redoute's Choice (Danehill) mare Frontalis.

Further back this is the same family as Listed winner and Group 1-placed Imperfect Circle (Riverman) - the dam of multiple elite level winner and successful sire Spinning World (Nureyev) and Listed scorer Visions Clarity (Sadler's Wells), who in turn produced top-flight scoring pair War Of Will (War Front) and Pathfork (Distorted Humor) and Listed winner Tacticus (A.P. Indy).

In the other two-year-old trial on the Gold Coast, a filly by Arrowfield Stud shuttler Maurice (Screen Hero) Invincible Tears went on better than her first trial on October 12, as she took out her 1000 metre jump-out.

After racing keenly in the early stages, the filly settled on the outside of the leader Waltz (Hinchinbrook) and took up the running in the straight to gallop away with a comfortable two and a half length advantage in a winning time of 1:01.60 seconds.

Invincible Tears was purchased by TCH Bloodstock for $220,000 at this year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Arrowfield Stud draft and she is out of the unraced Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) mare Networking.

Networking herself is out of Nina Celebre (Peintre Celebre), making her a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Pakistan Star (Shamardal).

Further back this is the same family as Group 1 winners Next Gina (Perugino) and Next Desert (Desert Style) and Group 2 scorer Night Petticoat.

Maurice has made a good start with his first crop in his native Japan, siring 19 winners and due to the coronavirus pandemic did not return to Arrowfield Stud for the 2020 breeding season.
