The Daniel Morton-trained Snickerdoodledandy (3 f ex Crafty Irna by Starcraft) landed the Burgess Queen Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) at Ascot and in the process handed Arrowfield Stud-based Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) his 105th stakes winner.

Last seen running fifth in the Belgravia Stakes (Listed, 1200m), the three-year-old filly showed a good attitude to beat stablemate Kissonallforcheeks (Written Tycoon) by a quarter of a length. Magical Dream (Dream Ahead) was another two lengths away in third.

Purchased by Damon Gabbedy’s Belmont Bloodstock for $280,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, the three-year-old filly is out of 2011 Adrian Knox Stakes (Gr 3, 2000m) winner Crafty Irna (Starcraft).

Crafty Irna herself is a daughter of 2003 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Zirna (Deputy Governor) and she is herself a half-sister to Listed scorers Vandalo (Van Nistelrooy) and Amazing Me (Deputy Governor).

Further back this is the same family as Group 3 winner Tarvarnelle (Zabeel) - the dam of last season’s WATC Derby (Gr 2, 2400m) winner Tuscan Queen (Fastnet Rock).

Snitzel’s progeny is headed by 14 Group 1 winners and he is standing at Arrowfield Stud for a fee of $165,000 (inc GST).
