After a frustrating run of seconds, the Levi Kavanagh-trained Nantucket (3 g Rubick - Just A Girl by Not A Single Doubt) finally got his head in front when he broke his maiden over 1000 metres at Bendigo on Wednesday and provided his Bobby’s Kitten (Kitten’s Joy) half-brother a valuable pedigree update before he is offered at next week’s New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale.

The gelding had finished second in all three of his previous starts and on Wednesday he beat Flying Finch (Redente) by a length with the same distance back in third Real Gun (Reward For Effort).

Purchased by his trainer for $40,000 at the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the Twin Hills Stud draft, the gelding is out seven time-winning Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice) mare Just A Girl, who was purchased by Twin Hills for $50,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when carrying the gelding in utero.

Just A Girl herself is one of six winners out of Surprise Bid (General Nediym), while further afield this is the same family as Listed winner Kittyhawk (Bustino).

Just A Girl’s aforementioned 2018 foal by Bobby’s Kitten was purchased for $55,000 at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale earlier in the year and he will be offered by JC Thoroughbreds as Lot 247 https://www.nzb.co.nz/sales/ready-to-run-sale-20rtr/247 at the New Zealand Ready To Run Sale which begins its two-day run on November 18. The mare’s filly by Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock) was snapped up for $8,000 at this year’s Inglis Weanling Sale and she has most recently foaled another filly by the Twin Hills Stud-based sire this year.

Rubick (Encosta De Lago) is standing at Coolmore Stud for a fee of $33,000 (inc GST) and he is joined in the breeding barn for the first time this year by his Everest (1200m)-winning son Yes Yes Yes, who is standing for a fee of $38,500 (inc GST).
