Yarradale Stud-based sire War Chant (Danzig) chalked up his 44th stakes winner on Saturday as his daughter Chantorque (3 f ex Contortion by Redoute's Choice) took out the Placid Ark Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at Ascot.

The three-year-old filly has only been beaten once in her five start career and she retained that consistent record when beating Charleton Eddie (Shooting To Win) by a length and a quarter and Mystical View (Canford Cliffs) was another half a length away in third.

Chantorque is one of three winners to race out of winning Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) mare Contortion who is herself is a daughter of stakes-placed It’s Who Deanie (Fuji Kieki), further back this is the same family as dual Group 1-winning Haunui Farm shuttle stallion Belardo (Lope De Vega).

Further afield this is also the same family as Group 1 winner Kistena (Miswaki), dual Group 2 Fruits Of Love (Hansel), Group 3 scorer Mujadil (Storm Bird) as well as Listed-winning pair Sagamore (Simply Great) and Kombas (Known Fact).

Last season Contortion was covered again by War Chant, who stands for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST).

Meanwhile, later on in the afternoon Frost Giant (Giant's Causeway) was handed his 17th stakes winner when Miss Frost (5 m ex Mega Me by Danewin) landed the Jungle Mist Classic (Listed, 1200m).
