After two previous placed efforts, the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Credenza (3 g Showcasing - Estelle by Tale Of The Cat) finally got his head in front over 1469 metres at Kyneton on Tuesday providing his Belardo (Lope De Vega) half-brother a valuable update ahead of him selling at Book 2 of the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale in January.

The three-year-old gelding beat Vittorina (Pierro) by three-quarters of a length. Cakewalk Baby (Glass Harmonium) was another quarter of a length away in third.

Purchased by his trainer and Julian Blaxland’s Blue Sky Bloodstock for $65,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Kitchwin Hills draft, the colt is out of dual winning Tale Of The Cat (Storm Cat) mare Estelle and she is herself a half-sister to the dam of Group 3 winner Flying Tristram (Flying Spur).

The gelding also hails from the same family as multiple Group 1 winner Dance Hero (Danzero) and Listed-winning duo Westport (Not A Single Doubt) and Wolfe Dreams (Sequalo).

Estelle’s colt by Showcasing (Oasis Dream) was purchased for NZ$60,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale earlier this year, while her aforementioned colt by Haunui Farm shuttler Belardo will go through the ring as Lot 788 at next year’s edition of the sale and he is consigned by Haunui Farm.
