Royal Command wins Tattersall's Cup

After finishing third in the Ascot Gold Cup (Listed, 1800m) on his previous start, Royal Command (7 g ex Stormy Nova by Metal Storm) broke his stakes duck on Saturday when he took out the Tattersall's Cup (Listed, 2100m) at Ascot and in the process became the 73rd stakes winner for Darley-based stallion Street Sense (Street Cry).

The seven-year-old stormed home to beat Paddy’s Shadow (Dane Shadow) by a length and a half, while Arctic Stream (High Chaparral) was another head behind in third.

The Adam Durrant-trained and Bob Peters-owned gelding is out of dual Group 3 winner Stormy Nova (Metal Storm), making her a sister to Group 3 winner Cosmic Storm, while he is a half-brother Listed-winning pair Mikimoto (Sebring) and Superstorm (Sebring), who was also placed at Group 1 level.

In 2018 Stormy Nova produced a brother to Royal Command, who is called Galactic Storm and is unraced and in 2019 she slipped Sessions (Lonhro).

Street Sense - whose progeny is headed by 11 elite level winners - shuttled to Australia for five seasons and now resides at Darley’s Jonabell Farm base in Kentucky where his fee of 2021 has been set at US$60,000.
