The Matt Cumani-trained Tycoon Bec (4 m Written Tycoon - Morganza by Singspiel) made a winning debut on her first attempt as she broke her maiden over 1469 metres at Kyneton on Thursday.

The daughter of Written Tycoon (Iglesia) surged clear to decisively beat Shezadandi (Dandino) by four and a half lengths, while Machinate (All Too Hard) was another half a length away in third.

Cumani said he would take the approach with the mare.

"I'm not going to make the mistake of jumping up too quickly, because she is competitive at this distance (1450m), so I think we might have a look again at this distance or gently ease her up to a mile," trainer Matt Cumani told  Racing.com.

Purchased by P Diamond, Boomer Bloodstock and Cumani Racing for $140,000 at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the Glenlogan Park draft, the mare is out of the winning Singspiel (In The Wings) mare Morganza, who was purchased by Damon Gabbedy's Belmont Bloodstock for €80,000 at the 2011 Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale. She is herself a daughter of Listed winner Mezzogiorno (Unfuwain).

Mezzogiorno herself is the dam of fellow Listed scorers Mill Springs (Shirocco) and Monnavanna (Machiavellian) as well as Group 2 winner Monturani (Indian Ridge), who is the grandam of multiple Group winner Anda Muchacho (Helmet).

This season Morganza produced a filly by Aquis Farm-based sire Brave Smash (Tosen Phantom).

Written Tycoon is currently sitting at the head of Australian champion sires table by number of winners, while he is sitting second behind by the now penisoned Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice) by earnings. He covered his first book of mares at Arrowfield Stud for a fee of $77,000 (inc GST) this year, having been based previously at Woodside Park Stud in Victoria.
