Sonic Tycoon gets off the mark at Hawkesbury

The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained Sonic Tycoon (3 g Written Tycoon - Transonic by Casino Prince) got his career off to the best possible start as he made a winning debut over 1500 metres at Hawkesbury on Sunday. 

The son of Arrowfield Stud-based sire Written Tycoon (Iglesia) scooted clear to post a decisive three length victory over Mandalong Beyond (Kermadec), while She's Justified (Vancouver) was another neck away in third. 

Purchased for $70,000 Inglis Great Southern Sale from the Woodside Park Stud, the gelding is out of four time-winning Casino Prince (Flying Spur) mare Transonic, making him a brother to Tysonic, who has won on four occasions. 

Transonic herself is out of stakes-placed mare Jet Past (Jet Master), while further back this is the same family as Group 3 winner Touch Of Silver (Sir Tristram). 

Sonic Tycoon’s brother was purchased by BBT Breeding and Racing for $55,000 at the 2019 Inglis Great Southern Weanling & Bloodstock Sale, before being purchased by Asset Racing and Sheamus Mills Bloodstock for $100,000 at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale earlier this year. 

In 2019 Transonic missed to Woodside Park Stud shuttler Cable Bay (Invincible Spirit) and produced a filly by his barnmate Rich Enuff (Written Tycoon) this year. She has most recently been covered by Telemon Thoroughbreds-based sire Sun City (Zoustar), with the operation having bought the mare for $6,000 via the Inglis Digital March Sale 2 earlier this year. 

Written Tycoon has enjoyed an incredible season so far, siring ten stakes winners, including Group 1-winning trio Pippie, Odeum and Ole Kirk and he has 45 lots catalogued for next year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
