The Kacy Fogden-trained Skellig Island (3 g Fastnet Rock - Dower by Pins) got his career off to the best possible start when he broke his maiden over 1600 metres at Ballina.

The son of Coolmore Stud-based sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill) pulled clear to beat Ice Elite (Top Echelon) by a length and a half, while Nicholas Adam (Top Echelon) was another nose away in third.

Aquis Farm purchased the gelding from Tyreel Stud for $250,000 at the 2019 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and he is out of dual-winning Pins (Snippets) mare Dower.

Dower is the dam of two other winners and her progeny is headed by Listed-winning Savabeel (Zabeel) mare Dowager Queen, who in turn produced stakes-placed Queen Of Rocks (Fastnet Rock).

In 2019 Dower produced a colt by Sun Stud-based sire Thronum (Snitzel), while this season she produced a filly by his barnmate National Defense (Invincible Spirit) and she was covered again by Thronum this season.

Fastnet Rock has 18 lots catalogued at next year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
