The Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained Hopkins (3 c Zoustar - Global Dance by Sadler's Wells) got off the mark at the fourth time of asking when scoring over 2050 metres at Moe on Friday.

The three-year-old colt by Widden Stud-based sire Zoustar (Northern Meteor) surged clear of his rivals to post a two and a quarter length victory over Doom Star (Domesday), while Rich Dane (Domesday) was a further length and a quarter back in third.

Purchased by his trainers and Aquis Farm for $200,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Element Hill draft in 2019, Hopkins becomes the third winner out of the unraced Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) mare Global Dance.

Global Dance herself is a daughter of winning mare Solo De Lune (Law Society) and she herself is also the dam of 1999 Prix Saint-Alary (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Cerulean Sky (Darshaan) - the dam of Group 2 scorer Honolulu (Montjeu).

Cerulean Sky is also the grandam of Group 2 winner Royal Bench (Whipper) and Group 3-scoring pair Mayhem (Whipper) and Memphis Tennessee (Hurricane Run), who was also placed Group 1 level.

Solo De Lune is also the dam of Moonstone (Dalakhani), who landed the Irish Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f) in 2008 and produced Group 3-winning pair Nelson (Frankel) and US Army Ranger (Galileo), as well as fellow Group 3 winner Words (Dansili).

Global Dance’s colt by Sebring (More Than Ready) was purchased by  Proven Thoroughbreds and Steven O'Dea Racing for $130,000 at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, while Element Hill will offer her Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) colt as Lot 344 at next year’s Gold Coast sale.

This season the mare produced a filly by Newgate Farm-based first-season sire Capitalist (Written Tycoon) and she has most recently been covered by Coolmore Stud-based sire Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry).

Zoustar has 60 lots catalogued at next year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
