Newgate Farm’s first-season stallion Capitalist (Written Tycoon) sired his second winner as the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Profiteer (2 c ex Athena Lass by Snitzel) made a winning debut over 1100 metres at Flemington on Saturday.

The two-year-old colt scooted home two and three-quarter lengths clear of Ranveer - who is by another first-season sire son of Written Tycoon (Iglesia) in Winning Rupert who stands alongside Capitalist at Newgate Farm. Sunday Yum Cha (Territories) was a further three-quarters of a length further back in third.

Kent said the stable would now consider their options for the colt, but the Inglis Millennium (RL, 1100m) and Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) would be definite options.

"It’s a new race (Millennium) which you have to consider when you have these sort of horses," he told Racing.com. "It doesn’t make him a stallion but the prize-money is huge. Maybe you can do both (Blue Diamond), but we’ll just see.

"He is a bona fide two-year-old type. He’s like his father. He’s not too big, he’s precocious, he’s neat and he’s got a beautiful action. He really covers the ground.

"From day one we knew he was a smart colt the way he could gallop but to find it under race pressure was very pleasing today.

"He’s in the first top three at this stage. Whether he ends up being the best horse, time will tell but he’s definitely the more precocious.

"We’ll just get him home and makes sure his shins and knees are OK, but he’s a very sound horse.”

The colt was purchased by Roll The Dice Racing and Rogers Bloodstock for $165,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Newgate Farm and he is out of Listed-placed Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) mare Athena Lass and she is herself a half-sister to stakes winner Euryale (Lonhro).

The colt’s third dam is Group 1 winner Danglissa (Danzero), who is herself the grandam of Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) winner Unite And Conquer (Hinchinbrook) as well as Group 3 winner Sweet Redemption (Snitzel).

In 2020 Athena Lass foaled a filly by I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit).

Profiteer joins Capitvant as Capitalist’s other winner and he has 48 yearlings catalogued at next month’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, including the colt’s sister, who will be offered by Newgate Farm as Lot 66.
