The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Safeeya (3 f Fastnet Rock - Star On High by Fusaichi Pegasus) broke his maiden at the fifth time of asking as he landed the AFC Peter and Lavella Darose Maiden Plate (1400m) at Cranbourne on Sunday.

The daughter of Coolmore Stud-based sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill) stormed home to beat Share The Rhythm (Written Tycoon) by an impressive five lengths, while Magnus A Go Go (Magnus) was another nose away in third.

Bred by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Safeeya is out of the unraced Fusaichi Pegasus (Mr. Prospector) mare Star On High and she has produced three other winners.

Star On High is a daughter of Group 1-placed mare Maryinsky (Sadler’s Wells) and she is also the dam of multiple Group 1 winner Peeping Fawn (Danehill), the dam of Listed winner September (Deep Impact).

Maryinsky is also the dam of elite level and sire Thewayyouare (Kingmambo), while further back this is the same family as Listed scorer Alzire (Shamardal).

Star On High’s 2018 filly by American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) is called Osool and is unraced, she was most recently served by Saxon Warrior (Deep Impact) this season. Fastnet Rock has 18 lots catalogued at next year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
