Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott look to have yet another talented juvenile in their stable as Tilianam (2 f Savabeel - Spending by Pins) produced an ultra impressive 742 metre barrier trial at Randwick on Tuesday.

The two-year-old filly jumped smartly from the barriers and was placed on the fence by Tim Clark and did not see another rival, scooting clear to beat Perfect Darling (So You Think) by three and a half lengths, in a slick time of 44.89 seconds.

Purchased by her trainers for NZ$270,000 at the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka National Yearling Sale from the Waikato Stud draft, the two-year-old filly is out of stakes-placed Pins (Snippets) mare Spending, who is herself a daughter of Group 3 winner Splashing Out (O’Reilly).

Splashing Out herself is the dam of Group 2 winning duo Splurge (Savabeel) and Shopaholic (Pins) as well as Group 3 scorer Packing Pins (Pins).

The filly’s third dam is Iguazu (Carolingian) - the grandam of multiple Group 1 winner and late Waikato Stud-based sire Sacred Falls (O’Reilly).

Tilianam is bred on one of the most potent crosses in the New Zealand stud book being by Savabeel (Zabeel) and out of a Pins mare, meaning she is bred on the same cross as 12 stakes winners, headed by five Group 1 winners.

Tilianam’s brother will be offered by Waikato Stud at Book 1 of next year’s New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale as Lot 138

In the next juvenile heat of the day, Tilianam’s stablemate Ransakka (Sebring) also landed his 742 metre heat at Randwick.

The two-year-old colt Ransakka was a little slow from the gates, with Brenton Avdulla allowing him to settle wide in midfield. After racing wide the turn, the colt cantered home to post a half a length victory over State Capital (Capitalist) in a time of 44.88 seconds.

The son of the late Widden Stud-based sire Sebring (More Than Ready) is out of Scandiva (Fastnet Rock), who won the 2013 edition of the Magic Night Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) and she has produced one winner.

Scandiva herself is out of Scandinavia (Snippets), who also produced Group 1 winner and Sun Stud-based sire Magnus (Flying Spur), Group 2-winning pair Wilander (Exceed And Excel) and Scandiva (Fastnet Rock) and Listed winner Arctic Flight (Flying Spur).

Scandinavia also produced Helsinge (Desert Sun) - the dam of multiple Group 1-winning champion mare Black Caviar (Bel Esprit) and multiple Group 1 winner and now Vinery Stud-based sire All Too Hard (Casino Prince), while she is also the grandam of dual Group 1 winner Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon).
