Threeood adds Belle Of The Turf Handicap to record

Widden Stud resident Star Witness (Starcraft) was provided with his 16th stakes winner on Tuesday when his daughter Threeood (5 m ex Sencircles by Street Sense) added some much deserved black-type to her CV in the Belle Of The Turf Handicap (Gr 3, 1600m) at Gosford. 

Having her 28th career start, the five-year-old mare was originally trained in Victoria by Mick Price, but was transferred to Joe Pride in 2019 and on Tuesday she beat Oakfield Missile (Not A Single Doubt) by a length, while Selica (Makfi) was a head further away in third. 

Bred by Gilgai Farm, the mare is unraced Street Sense (Street Cry) mare Sencircles, whose other winner is stakes-placed Infinite Wisdom (All Too Hard). 

Sencircles is herself out of Lady Circles (Ascot Knight), making her a half-sister to Group 3 winner Decircles (Encosta De Lago). 

Lady Circles herself is out of 1995 Australian Oaks winner Circles Of Gold (Marscay) and her nine winners are headed by multiple elite level winners Elvstroem (Danehill) and Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus), while she also produced winning Group 1-placed Hveger (Danehill). 

Hvegar also proved herself a good producer, being the dam of seven-time Group 1 winner and now Swettenham Stud stud shuttler Highland Reel (Galileo), whose first Australian crop of yearlings will hit the sales circuit this year. The daughter of Danehill (Danzig) also produced another Group 1 winner in Cape Of Good Hope (Galileo), as well as Group 2 scorer Idaho (Galileo) and Group 3 winner Nobel Prize (Galileo). 

Star Witness’ progeny is headed by Group 1 winner Global Glamour, whose first yearling - a colt by Zoustar (Northern Meteor) - will be offered by Coolmore Stud as Lot 346 at next month’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, while Star Witness himself has ten lots set to go under the hammer at the Queensland Sale.
