Jessica Rabbit scores first win at Doomben
The Annabel Neasham-trained Jessica Rabbit (2 f ex Bella Sunday by Sunday Silence) got off the mark at the third attempt when she landed a 1200 metre race at Doomben on Wednesday and in the process handed Kitchwin Hills resident Sooboog (Snitzel) with his first winner.
Last seen finishing second at Warwick Farm three weeks ago, having run tenth on debut at Randwick on October 24, the two-year-old pulled clear in the final stages to beat Princess Sally (Fighting Sun) by two lengths, while General Wolffe (Wolf Cry) was a further head away in third.
Purchased by her owners Aquis Farm for $250,000 at the 2020 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale from the Segenhoe Stud draft, the filly is out dual winner of Bella Sunday (Sunday Silence), making her a half-sister to 2018 Flight Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Ooohood (I Am Invincible).
Bella Sunday also produced stakes-placed Breakfast In Bed (Hussonet), who in turn produced dual Group 1 winner King’s Legacy (Redoute’s Choice).
Bella Sunday herself is also a half-sister to top-class sire Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice) and she was covered by Coolmore Stud shuttler Justify (Scat Daddy) last month.
Sooboog has 12 lots catalogued at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, while he is represented by 18 youngsters at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
The victory also means that Max Whitby will not have to pay out, with Whitby offering to pay the service fees for breeders of maiden mares sent to Sooboog in September if the stallion did not sire a two-year-old winner before December 31.
