Comanche Brave hands half-brother update ahead of sale

The Julius Sandhu-trained Comanche Brave (3 c Sacred Falls - Savabeel Star by Savabeel) shed his maiden status at the second attempt as he landed a race over 1500 metres at Yarra Valley on Tuesday and in the process handed his Almanzor (Wootton Bassett) half-brother a timely update ahead of him selling during Book 1 of the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale next month. 

Last seen finishing fifth on debut at Bendigo, the New Zealand-bred three-year-old colt finished a length and three-quarters clear of fellow New Zealand-bred Polina (Darci Brahma), while Marvelocity (More Than Ready) was another quarter of a length away in third. 

Purchased by Phill Cataldo Bloodstock and Michael Kent Jnr at Book 1 of the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale from the Cambridge Stud draft, the Whitby Bloodstock Trust-bred son of the late Waikato Stud-based sire Sacred Falls (Zabeel) is out of the winning Savabeel (Zabeel) mare Savabeel Star, making her a half-sister to Listed scorer Stella Di Paco (Paco Boy) and a further two winners. 

Savabeel Star herself is a half-sister to Group 3 scorer Money See Me (Soviet Star), while further back this is the same family Listed winner Genevra (Danehill) - the dam of fellow stakes winner Golden Whip (Seattle Dance). 

The Sacred Falls / Savabeel cross, while it has not rendered any stakes winners, it is emerging as a successful one, with ten winners from the 15 runners. 

Cambridge Stud will offer the Savabeel Star’s aforementioned colt from the first-crop of their Group 1-winning shuttler Almanzor as Lot 92 at Book 1 of the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale next month. 

Sacred Falls - who died in December last year - has nine lots catalogued at next month’s Karaka yearling sale.
