Pinecliff Racing-owned Snitzel filly breaks maiden on debut at Kensington.
The John Sargent-trained Four Moves Ahead (2 f Snitzel - Doulmera by Mr. Greeley) looks a filly with a big future after she posted an impressive debut over 1150 metres at Randwick-Kensington on Saturday.
Bred by Johnathan Munz's GSA Bloodstock, the daughter of Arrowfield Stud-based Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) finished strongly to beat Ruby Kisses (Flying Artie) by an emphatic two and three-quarter lengths. Morioka (Maurice) was a further five lengths away in third.
Sargent said the filly would now be aimed at the Widden Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) at Rosehill on January 30.
"She's been a lovely filly from day one and it was good to get one away today," Sargent said.
"I was hoping to get cover but that didn't work out. But we got a clear run and she's got a good turn of foot.
"The best attribute for her is her attitude. She's a very laid back filly just eats and sleeps and is probably the perfect racehorse.
"I hold her in high regard. I had a couple of champion two-year-olds in New Zealand and it's obviously up a class here, but she's going the right way now.
"I know it was wet today and the breed likes it and so does her half-sister, but I think on top of the ground she won't mind that either."
The filly failed to make her $300,000 reserve when offered by Bhima Thoroughbreds at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and she is out unraced mare Doulmera (Mr. Greeley) making her a half-sister to this season's Angst Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) winner Emeralds (Sebring), who is also trained by Sargent.
Doulmera (Mr. Greeley) is a daughter of Group 3 scorer Daltaya (Anabaa), making her a half-sister to Group 1 winner Dalkala (Giant's Causeway).
The mare's fourth dam is top-producing Listed-winning mare Daltawa (Miswaki) and she is the dam of multiple Group 1-winning champions and successful sires Daylami (Doyoun) and Dalakhani (Darshaan), while she also produced Group 3 winner Dalghar (Anabaa) and Listed scorer Daymarti (Caerleon).
Daltawa is also the grandam of Group 1 winner Dolniya (Azamour) and Group 3 scorer Dalwari (More Than Ready).
In 2019 Doulmera produced a colt by Coolmore Stud-based Pierro (Lonhro) and she has been most recently covered again by Snitzel (Redoute's Choice).
Snitzel has 58 lots catalogued at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
