Frost Flowers breaks maiden at Flemington and will be aimed at the Blue Diamond.
Darley shuttler Frosted (Tapit) sired his second first-crop winner in Australia on Friday as his daughter Frost Flowers (2 f ex Itameri by Exceed And Excel) made a winning debut in the New Year Sprint 2YO Plate (1000m) at Flemington.
The two-year-old filly defeated Tayla's Moment - who is by Arrowfield shuttler and fellow first crop sire Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) by one and a half lengths with a further three lengths back toI Am Enchanting (I Am Invincible) in third.
Trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman, Frost Flowers will now be aimed at the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m).
"That was pretty impressive. When they come down the middle of the track it's always hard for a two-year-old at their first start to come along the inside like that," stable representative Brad Taylor said.
"When they came to the 300 metres and Jamie [Kah, jockey] was still swinging on her it was a pretty easy watch after that.
"She is a filly that is going to improve. She has done everything right since we got her. She is very professional, has the pedigree to back it up and it's nice to train another winner for Godolphin."
Frost Flowers is out of winning Exceed And Excel (Danehill) mare Itameri making her a half-sister to stablemate Hanseatic (Street Boss), who landed the last season's Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) (Gr 3, 1100m) and finished second in the Blue Diamond Stakes.
The filly's third dam is Scandinavia (Snippets), who also produced Group 1 winner and Sun Stud-based sire Magnus (Flying Spur), Group 2-winning pair Wilander (Exceed And Excel) and Scandiva (Fastnet Rock) and Listed winner Arctic Flight (Flying Spur).
Scandinavia also produced Helsinge (Desert Sun) - the dam of multiple Group 1-winning champion mare Black Caviar (Bel Esprit) and multiple Group 1 winner and now Vinery Stud-based sire All Too Hard (Casino Prince), while she is also the grandam of dual Group 1 winner Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon).
Frosted's global winner count stands at 18 and his progeny is headed by Grade 2 winner Travel Column and he has three lots catalogued at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, which gets underway on January 12.
