Abseiler races to maiden victory at Flemington.
Newgate Farm-based first-season sire Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt) was represented by his second winner when Abseiler (2 g ex Wanted Lady by Wanted) made a winning debut at Flemington on Saturday and in the process handed his sister a timely pedigree update ahead of her selling on Gold Coast next week.
Trained by Lloyd Kennewell, the two-year-old gelding stormed down the outside to post a length victory over Telluride (Medaglia d'Oro), while Chameleon Choice - who is also by Extreme Choice - was another quarter of a length away in third.
"He's inherited his (Extreme Choice) size as he's not real big, but he has a big ticker and it's been a long time since I've ridden a two year-old so professional. He was going to win a long way out," said winning jockey Criag Newitt, who rode the stallion to victory in the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) and the AJ Moir Stakes (Gr 1, 1000m) in 2016.
"I'm tipping he has a pretty bright future ahead of him."
A $70,000 Magic Millions Perth Yearling purchase from the Western Breeders Alliance draft for Kennewell Racing/Group 1 Bloodstock, Abseiler is the first foal of two-time winner Wanted Lady (Wanted).
Wanted Lady herself is a daughter of Listed scorer Lady Knockout (Serheed), making her a half-sister to Listed winner Missy Cummings (Magnus), who in turn produced dual Group 2 scorer Mizzy (Zoustar).
Further back this gelding's third dam is Group 2 winner Prime Again (Marooned) - the dam of Listed-winning duo Young Lionel (Blackfriars) and Expunge (Gilded Time), while she is also the grandam of stakes scorer Like A Butterfly (Blackfriars).
Brian Nutt's Attunga Stud will offer the gelding's sister as Lot 943 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale next week, while Wanted Lady produced a filly by the stallion's barnmate Winning Rupert (Written Tycoon) last season.
Abseiler joins unbeaten juvenile Palamos as the stallion's other winner and he has ten entries at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, which gets underway on Tuesday. Extreme Choice's barnmate Flying Artie (Artie Schiller) heads the leading first season sires table in Australia with three winners to date whilst Capitalist (Written Tycoon), Frosted (Tapit), Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) and Winning Rupert (Written Tycoon) have all sired two winners.
