Daughter of Woodside Park’s young sire Rich Enuff to head to Blue Diamond
The Graham Begg-trained filly Dosh (2 f Rich Enuff - Raise Up by Shovhog) remained unbeaten when taking out Tuesday’s Blue Diamond Preview (Gr 3, 1000m) and will now head towards next month’s Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m).
Winner of the Ottawa Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) on debut, the filly scored a half-length victory over Tayla’s Moment (Shalaa) with Frost Fowers (Frosted) a close third. The time of 58.17 seconds was half a second slower than General Beau (Brazen Beau) ran in the colts and geldings division.
Begg won the 2018 running of the Blue Diamond Stakes with Written By (Written Tycoon) and said that Dosh will now head straight to the Group 1 race.
"He (Written By) won the Prelude and she's won a Preview but this year unfortunately the way the races are structured she won't have another run going into the Blue Diamond," Begg said.
"She'll only have had the one run and we'll try and give her a jump out somewhere in between, but she's all racehorse.
"I don't think the 1200 metres will be an issue and it's uncharted territory for all of them.
"She has a fair bit of improvement and she'll come out of the race today and bounce out of that.
"She only had the one jump out going into it and she's a massive doer in the stable. She eats as much as a five or six-year-old gelding.
"She gave two kilos away, she paid the penalty for winning a Group 3 at her first start which is not easy to do."
Bought by Begg for $155,000 at last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from Glenlogan Park, Dosh is out of the winning Shovhog (Danehill) mare Raise Up who has produced one other winner. Dosh’s third dam is Game Dame (Bold Aussie) who produced dual Group 2 winner and Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) winner Bold Promise (Luskin Star) who in turn produced Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Merlene (Danehill). This is also the family of Group 1 winners Dear Demi (Dehere) and Miss Pennymoney (Brocco).
Raise Up produced another filly by Rich Enuff last year before being covered by Pierata (Pierro).
Dosh was bred by Glenlogan Park where Rich Enuff stood his first season at stud. He has produced 23 winners from two crops to race to date and his other stakes winner is the Listed winner Plutocrat.
