Artorius (Flying Artie) jumped straight to the head of the Timeform 2YO table following his impressive win in the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday, with the son of Flying Artie (Artie Schiller) being awarded a rating of 118 for his victory in the coveted Group 1.

The rating of 118 sees the Anthony and Sam Freesman-trained colt now sit ahead of 111-rated duo; Enthaar (Written Tycoon) - who finished sixth behind Artorius in the Blue Diamond - and likely Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) contender Stay Inside (Extreme Choice).

In the ten preceding years the Blue Diamond had been split down the middle, five colts, five fillies, and a rating of 118 sees Artorius split those colts down the middle. Below Sepoy (Elusive Quality) (124+), Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt) (123+) and Written By (Written Tycoon) (120), but above Pride Of Dubai (Street Cry) (116+) and last year's winner Tagaloa (Lord Kanaloa) who ran to 117.

The colts were dominant on Saturday, filling the first five places, something that has happened just once since the foundation of the pattern in 1978 and we have to go back 21 years to 1999, when Redoute's Choice (Danehill) led in six colts before the first filly got home.

The first filly home in 2021 was the favourite Enthaar who led but faded through the corner and faded into sixth and she is likely to take her place in the Golden Slipper at Rosehill on March 20.
