A total of 151 nominations have been weighted for the Doncaster Mile (Gr 1, 1600m), which will be run on the first day of The Championships at Randwick on April 3.

Heading the weights is six-time Group 1-winning mare Verry Elleegant (Zed) who has been allocated topweight of 58.0kg on a 50.0kg minimum (49.0kg for three-year-olds).

Next in line on 57.0kg are Fierce Impact (Deep Impact), a multiple Group 1 winner over mile, dual Group 1 winner Kolding (Ocean Park) and Cox Plate (Gr 1, 2040m) winner Sir Dragonet (Camelot). Meanwhile, dual Group 1 winner Russian Camelot (Camelot) - who finished third behind Sir Dragonet in the Moonee Valley Group 1 - has been allocated 56.5kg.

Multiple Group 1-winning mares Probabeel (Savabeel) and Avantage (Fastnet Rock) will be asked to carry 55.5kg and 54.5kg respectively, while fellow Group 1 winner and recent Apollo Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m) winner Collette (Hallowed Crown) will carry 54kg in the Group 1.

Multiple Group 1 winner Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon) is the highest-rated three-year-old and will be asked to carry 53.5kg, while heading the weights for the three-year-old fillies is this season’s VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) winner Personal (Fastnet Rock) with 50.5kg.

The weights for the Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) on the second day of the Championships at Randwick have also been released with Verry Elleegant once again handed the top-weight of 58.5kg, while Sir Dragonet will be asked to carry 57.5kg.

The Chosen One (Savabeel) - who was narrowly beaten by Etah James (Raise The Flag) in the 2020 edition - has been allotted 56kg for this year’s running of the Group 1.

The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained five-year-old finished second when resuming in the Herbie Dyke Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) earlier this month and is likely to launch his Australian campaign in the Sky High Stakes (Gr 3, 2000m) at Rosehill on March 13.

“At this stage he won’t race for another three weeks from last Saturday,” Forsman said.

“The Sky High Stakes will lead into probably the Tancred and then hopefully the Sydney Cup.”
