Away Game (Snitzel) has been cleared to run in Saturday’s Surround Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) after recovering from an injury scare.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained daughter of Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) slipped whilst being unloaded from a float midweek and sustained an abrasion to her hip. Racing NSW vet Toby Koenig examined Away Game on Thursday and ruled her fit to race.

Winner of year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) winner, Away Game has been placed in all three of her starts this preparation and was last seen finishing third to Every Rose (Choisir) and Never Talk (No Nay Never) in the Light Fingers Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Randwick on February 13.

The Kris Lees-trained Never Talk will also line up in Saturday's Surround Stakes and her trainer said that the rain-affected track will suit his filly.

"She has surprised me nearly every start to be honest. She just keeps improving," Lees said.

"She is on trial at the trip but she's fit and well.

"She has been up for a little while so you're always a bit guarded about how many runs they've got in a prep but I'm seeing no signs to suggest she has come to the end of her preparation."

Another trainer hoping for a rain-affected track at Randwick on Saturday is Sam Freedman who will be represented in the Surround Stakes by La Mexicana (I Am Invincible).

"She's just thriving at the moment and I am hoping that they (Sydney) continue to get a lot of rain as she's probably more effective on rain-affected tracks," Freedman told Racing.com.

The B2B Thoroughbreds-owned daughter of I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) won a Benchmark 84 (1100m) at Caulfield on January 26 before stepping up in class and taking out the Kevin Hayes Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) on February 6.

"We backed her up pretty quickly from that Australia Day meeting; it was a nine or 10-day back-up, which really doesn't suit her, but she obviously won again.

"Our filly is best with that three weeks or even a month wouldn't hurt her between runs and she's got that for this run, which is why we backed her up quickly last time so she could have this three weeks between."
