Co-trainer Wayne Hawkes has warned Saturday’s Australian Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) could be Ole Kirk’s (Written Tycoon) final race.

The colt will be attempting to add further value to his CV when he takes aim at the Group 1, having landed the Golden Rose Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) and Caulfield Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) earlier on in the season, while the colt will be looking to bounce back to form having finished a disappointing eighth in the Futurity Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) last Saturday.

"If he happened to win, there's every chance he could be retired," Hawkes told Racing.com.

"I would've been happy if they retired him after Caulfield Guineas, you can't do any more than what you've done.

"Not many horses win one Group 1, let alone the best one in Melbourne and the best one in Sydney as a three-year-old."

Ole Kirk - who will join the Vinery Stud roster at the end of his racing career - will jump from barrier 15 in Saturday’s Group 1.

"This time last week, you think you've drawn barrier one, it's fantastic and then, by the time you get to the race, barrier one was not the place to be," he said.

"He's drawn a terrible barrier and, as I said, last week barrier one was where you wanted to be pre-race and, at the moment, barrier 15 doesn't look the right place but, come 4 o'clock tomorrow, maybe it is the right place."
